Timber modules for Strickhof centre of excellence

In summer 2021, a two-storey temporary college building was completed on the Grüental site in Wädenswil for students of food technology and horticulture. Strickhof is a centre of excellence for agriculture, food and home economics and now includes a temporary college building with contemporary spaces and modern infrastructure, including an outdoor recreation area and trial garden.

As full-service contractor, we covered all services from client support and preparing tender documents, including project and site management, fire safety, engineering, production and assembly.

The building has a mechanical ventilation system and a photovoltaic installation on the roof to meet the Minergie ECO standard. Fourteen classrooms, two combined labs, a sensor room, group rooms and a common area with food and drink as well as preparation rooms, collections and administrative spaces are all contained in the 108 timber modules.

In its full-service contractor role, Blumer Lehmann also organised the environmental design. This is reflected in the understated colour design of the facade, complemented by the greenery planned for the building with vertical climbing plants. These combine with the artworks dotted around to give the complex a coherent impression overall.
