Parallel-laminated timber for large spans

PLT-solid, also known as parallel-laminated timber, has been developed for applications in constructions with high requirements for bearing capacity and span.

In contrast to cross-laminated timber, its fibre structure runs in one main direction, enabling high-performance constructions for ceilings, roofs and special supporting structures. PLT-solid made from parallel-laminated single-layer panels will be available for all kinds of timber construction projects at Blumer Lehmann’s laminating facility from 2027.

Examples of use and areas of application of PLT-solid:

  • as ceiling and roof constructions over large spans
  • as an alternative to conventional beams such as wooden ribs or main beams
  • in large-scale modules

The benefits of PLT-solid

  • high bearing capacity
  • large spans
  • precise prefabrication
  • for challenging supporting structures
