Fascinating facts about Swiss wood

On Saturday, 13 September 2025, Blumer Lehmann and the forestry companies of Forest Region 1 are inviting visitors to Gossau for Swiss Wood Day. From 9 am to 4 pm, visitors can enjoy fascinating insights into the world of wood:

Industry & processing

Find out more about closed-loop recycling at Erlenhof and how we create sustainable value from Swiss wood.

Fascinating tours at the Blumer Lehmann sites at Bischofszellerstrasse 112 and in Erlenhof showcase the diversity of this material. This includes processing logs in the sawmill, the wide-ranging methods used in the industrial processing of sawn timber, and the construction of wooden buildings and silos.

A look at pellet and waste timber production and energy generation is also a must.

Forestry live
In the Wissholz forest at Walter Zoo, you can experience modern forest management, timber harvesting and spectacular demonstrations such as tree climbing on ropes. Experts are on hand to any answer questions and demonstrate the importance of forests for the environment and climate.

Refreshments are available at both locations. Please use public transport: from 8:45 am, a Regiobus departs every 15 minutes from Gossau SG railway station to all locations on a circular route.
