At the 2026 Wood Industry Day held by Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), Blumer Lehmann was presented with the fourth WOOD TRAINING AWARD by the Foundation for Specialist Training in Wood Technology. The award recognises companies that are particularly committed to training and education in the wood industry.
The annual Wood Industry Day brings together companies and future skilled workers. Trainees in wood technology gain insights into professional fields and career paths, while companies get to establish early contact with talented individuals. The event is an important gathering for Blumer Lehmann, as networking and recruiting young talent are key components of the company’s strategy.
Winning the fourth WOOD TRAINING AWARD is testament to the company’s broad commitment to education, which is consolidated through the Blumer Lehmann Academy, with apprentices in five different professions, a wide range of internal and external training opportunities, and training for teams and external partners.
Strengthening the future viability of Blumer Lehmann and the entire timber industry
Blumer Lehmann sees the award as both a recognition of its success and a source of inspiration for the entire timber industry. Investing in training not only ensures the company’s own future viability, but also reinforces the image of the timber industry as an attractive sector to work in. ‘Digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence are set to change our industry,’ says Markus Rutz, Division Manager for Timber and Modular Construction. ‘It’s important to define the right tools and adapt apprenticeships accordingly – in close collaboration with companies and training institutions.’
