A massive achievement in Engelburg

The silhouette of the Säntis mountain chain that is clearly visible from all balconies inspired the apartment building with commercial spaces. The building was planned as a four-storey timber construction conforming to the Minergie standard. A photovoltaic installation is a key element of the sustainable energy concept.

The architect took inspiration from the Alpstein massif for the geometry of the building with its unique roof shape. He also chose the colour grey for the building to recall the craggy rocks. The green of the windowsills and shutters brings the lush meadows of the Alpstein to mind.

A special feature of the roof construction is its 15 different surfaces, three dormers and numerous ridges. The uppermost apartments are characterised by plenty of light and panoramic views. All owner-occupied apartments in the residential and commercial building have huge cantilever balconies of up to 95 m2 and offer magnificent views. A special ceiling construction made with overhanging Lignatur elements makes this type of terrace balcony possible.
