Residential development with a focus on sustainability

As a consortium timber construction partner, our team is responsible for the supporting structure, facing layer, suspended ceilings and the facade. Planning work for the Augarten climate-friendly housing development began in January 2025; building handover of the three- to four-storey buildings with a total of 25 rental and owner-occupied apartments with 2.5 to 5.5 rooms is scheduled for May 2026.

The construction project is making use of open-pore materials – such as wood. Such materials not only reduce carbon emissions during construction, they also ensure a comfortable indoor climate in the apartments. Blumer Lehmann produced climate-friendly loam panels from clay and wood, which are being used for ceiling and wall panelling. The loam panels on the walls and ceilings of all three buildings cover a total area of around 6,500 m2. The insulation for the prefabricated timber walls consists of sustainable blow-in insulation material – sheep’s wool or recycled newsprint. The actively climate-friendly housing development also goes one step further in terms of energy technology. The solar power system installed on the roof and integrated into the facade produces its own electricity, reduces energy costs during operation and ensures independence from external energy supplies. The residential buildings meet the requirements of the Minergie-Eco standard.
