Modular timber construction

After construction began in December 2024, it took eight months for the school building to be handed over to the client in August 2025. The new extension was erected right next to the existing building in just three weeks. The modular timber construction was created by Bauart Architekten and Blumer Lehmann as a standalone classroom extension project from the “Modular W’ modular timber construction range. The extension is intended to be a long-term solution.

A total of 127 room modules form a flexible floor plan. The prefabricated modules function as load-bearing room units and can be stacked up to three storeys high. Rotating the modules creates niches for additional learning zones and cloakrooms. A three-storey atrium is the size of a room module and features a modular skylight system.

The space allocation plan includes four primary school classrooms with group rooms, five nursery classes with corresponding play areas and group rooms, a recreation and preparation area for the teachers, as well as storage and technical rooms. The building has two entrances. The nursery is accessible from the street, while the primary school rooms can be accessed via a walkway that connects the new building to the existing building on two levels.
