The new timber specimen house at the Goetheanum

The construction sits on a concrete base. A Free Form timber structure made of 17 m³ of laminated spruce timber was erected over it. The projecting roof with beams rotated at 90° is striking and is both a design and structural feature of the building. The facade is made of planed spruce, while the interior is finished with clay plasterboard.

The timber construction was designed as part of the 100th anniversary of biodynamic agriculture and serves as a functional space for research, education and culture.

The planning was handled by 9graden architectuur, headed by Yaike Dunselman.
