Ten per cent more living space in just a few days

The detached house in Hauptwil, built by Blumer Lehmann in 2010, needed additional living space without significantly altering its architectural character. The solution was to extend the living room with a ground-floor addition, complemented by a canopy and a terrace on the upper floor.

Blumer Lehmann was responsible for the planning, production, assembly and site management of the extension. The addition increases the gross floor area from 269 to 292 m². As with the original house built in 2010, the timber elements for the extension were prefabricated at the Gossau factory, protected from the weather. Thanks to the high degree of prefabrication, prefabricated timber construction not only reduces the construction time but also keeps noise disturbance for local residents to a minimum.

The extension is connected to the existing heating system and, like the original house, meets the Minergie-ECO standard.
