Temporary school structure for rent

For the construction period of the planned new school building, the Herti school complex received a temporary school structure consisting of three buildings in a modular timber design that will keep school operations running in full. Blumer Lehmann designed, planned, produced and erected the three modular constructions from the foundation as a general contractor.

Blumer Lehmann erected a temporary school structure in the form of a modular timber construction as a rental property to bridge the gap of almost three years of construction for the planned expansion of the school complex.

Different architectural concepts

The three-storey buildings were constructed in line with different architectural concepts. School building A consists of 60 timber modules. Inside, the larger classrooms are arranged on one side and all smaller rooms on the other side of the corridor. In school building B, which consists of 78 timber modules, there is a narrow longitudinal corridor in the centre of the building. The classrooms as well as group, custodian and storage rooms are located on both sides. School building C consist of 66 timber modules and is based on a cluster concept. Large classrooms and smaller rooms such as storage spaces, the custodian’s office and meeting rooms are arranged on both sides of the large, central corridor.

The entire high-quality temporary school structure will house 32 classrooms during the construction period, as well as group and specialist rooms, technical and cleaning rooms, a library and other spaces. All three school buildings are accessible via lift and have accessible toilets.

Consistent facade design

The three modular constructions feature a coordinated appearance. The facade design of all three buildings is made of surface-treated, pre-greyed Swiss spruce in lava grey. In addition, Cetris cement-bonded chipboard was used for the entrance and window areas and for the entire facade of structure C. The facade sheet elements are made of 2 mm thick aluminium. For school buildings A and C, our timber industry supplied finger-jointed facade mouldings with bandsaw cut on the visible sides. The facade of building B is made of KVZ acoustic panelling.
