Temporary secondary school

After the planned initial usage period of nine years, the modular timber and element-based constructions are to be dismantled and reused at another location. The temporary secondary school will consist of two three-storey classroom buildings connected by an open intermediate structure, plus a sports hall wing with two single halls. The two school wings with a total area of 7800 m2 are composed of 246 timber modules. Three modules together form a 69 m2 classroom.

The facades are structured in line with the modular design. Vertical timber structures and transparent lightweight corrugated panels give the sports hall a bright, temporary character. In the school wings, vertical, rough-cut wooden slats interact with the lightweight corrugated panels in the sports hall. Each part of the building will have its own colour.

The construction project will be built in accordance with the “Standard Nachhaltigkeit Hochbau” (sustainability construction standard). The school wings and the construction and building services of the sports wing meet the Minergie-Eco standard. Heating and cooling are generated by air-to-water heat pumps. The roof areas will be extensively planted with greenery and equipped with a photovoltaic system.
