During the renovation of the Valfleuri care home in Fleurier, Fondation Val-de-Travers required high-quality temporary accommodation for 30 residents. Blumer Lehmann therefore delivered a temporary extension to the existing Clairval care home in Buttes, using modular and prefabricated timber construction to provide additional capacity for the three to four-year construction period.
The high degree of prefabrication of the 40 modules, 30 of which are equipped with bathrooms and two with WCs, enabled rapid and straightforward construction while ensuring a high standard of execution. Timber creates a natural, warm and welcoming atmosphere in the rooms.
The pavilion was connected to the existing care home’s heating system. A refill station and buffer storage tank complement the system and meet the additional demand for hot water.
Although designed for temporary use, the modular timber building is also well equipped for the future. The modules can be rotated, rearranged or positioned opposite one another. The corridor can be widened and an additional storey added if required. This allows the approximately 1,400 m² of gross floor area to be flexibly adapted to changing uses and requirements.
