A new hall for the Alte Herberge

In the Alte Herberge country inn in Niederbüren, the guest rooms were extensively renovated and modernised to provide greater energy efficiency. The old arbour was replaced by a new building with a large hall including a kitchen. During the renovation, operations were continued in a temporary building.

Truss beams span 15 m
The new large hall offers space for 80 guests and is attached to the existing building via timber construction. 15 m long truss beams span the hall, or arbour. Rails for a mobile wall system with movable elements are embedded in the hall ceiling mounted underneath. The new arbour ceiling will be covered with solar panels and will produce electricity for the kitchen and the heat pump, which is fed by geothermal energy.

Building shell, interior finishing and timber facade by Blumer Lehmann
The Blumer Lehmann team carried out the shell of the new building and implemented the new hall’s interior finishing, including the interior wall cladding, acoustic ceilings and the solid timber cladding around the windows.

Our timber industry was responsible for the facade. The commission included the facade formwork with pilasters and development of the undersides of the projecting roof. Blumer Lehmann was in charge of the consortium, with Kaufmann Oberholzer supplying all laminated wooden beams and binders. Mock Holzbau assisted with the subsequent assembly.
