The new terminal at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, includes five Free Formpavilions with a timber supporting structure, all of which were developed, planned, produced and assembled by Blumer-Lehmann AG on the order of the general contractor Lindner Group. Following their completion, the pavilions will house duty-free shops, restaurants and the like. The structures were originally planned to be built using steel. Owing to their complexity and geometry, however, wood became the preferred material due to its versatility and flexibility. A major construction site with 1,800 workers combined with limited time windows for the delivery of materials represented a significant challenge. Thanks to a great deal of flexible planning, the 10,000 individual components were delivered on time and successfully assembled.
